Portrait of Henry Purcell by John Closterman



A man named Henry Purcell was fond of my words. He was attracted to one of my lines in particular. The line is, “Love, thou art best.” Mr. Purcell took that line and set music to it. He composed and published this in a popular collection of songs. I must say, I am very flattered.
